No. 5-seeded Charlotte battles No. 4-seeded Providence in the first round of the NIT at Dunkin' Donuts Center on Wednesday. It takes place at 7:15 p.m. ET and you can see it on ESPN3.com. The 49ers last met the Friars on Nov. 28, 2008 and lost 67-62.

The 49ers were defeated by Saint Louis 72-55 on Mar. 15 despite 20 points and 10 rebounds from Chris Braswell. He paces the team in points per game with 11.9, and blocks per game with 0.7. For the Friars, Kadeem Batts finished with 14 points and eight rebounds in the 61-44 loss to Cincinnati on Mar. 13. He contributes 7.4 rebounds per game in addition to his 15.1 points per game.
